Welcome

to the Living Word Lutheran Church website. We pray that God may bless this opportunity to hear about your Savior, Jesus Christ.

Jesus is your Savior. He has redeemed you, a lost and condemned person, purchased and won you from all sin, from death, and from the power of the devil, not with gold or silver, but with His holy, precious blood and His innocent suffering and death.

To hear more about how Christ saved you from sin, death and the devil, come join us Sunday mornings or contact Pastor Timothy Wheaton.  His contact information is on the left. Also, feel free to look through this website for more information on our church.

Who are we … We are Living Word because God’s word is living and powerful, able to create faith in sinful and rebellious hearts. It has the power to make those who are spiritually dead alive in Christ. Nothing else on earth has the power to do this.

Hebrews 4:12  “For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword.”

We are Lutheran… because we believe and teach the beautiful Biblical principles reclaimed in the Lutheran Reformation: we are saved by grace alone, by faith alone, by Scripture alone. Also, because we confess the creeds of the Lutheran Church without qualification as they are found in the Book of Concord 1580.

Grace alone… Grace is undeserved love. Because of our sin we deserve death and hell, but God in His love for us gives us forgiveness and heaven.

Romans 6:23  “For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

Faith Alone… The way we receive this gift of forgiveness and eternal life is through faith in Christ Jesus.

John 3:18  “He who believes in Him is not condemned; but he who does not believe is condemned already, because he has not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.”

Scripture Alone… The only way we can know of God and His will for us is through God’s word -the Bible.

2 Timothy 3:16  “All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness.”

We are a Church because… Matthew 18:20  “For where two or three are gathered together in My name, I am there in the midst of them.”

We are a Member of the CLC…which stands for the Church of the Lutheran Confession. For more information visit http://clclutheran.org/

Weekly Sermon

Pastor T.B. Wheaton, August 12, 2018

Daniel's Prayer Of Repentance

And now, O Lord our God, who brought your people out of the land of Egypt with a mighty hand, and have made a name for yourself, as at this day, we have sinned, we have done wickedly. 16 “O Lord, according to all your righteous acts, let your anger and your wrath turn away from your city Jerusalem, your holy hill, because for our sins, and for the iniquities of our fathers, Jerusalem and your people have become a byword among all who are around us. 17 Now therefore, O our God, listen to the prayer of your servant and to his pleas for mercy, and for your own sake, O Lord, make your face to shine upon your sanctuary, which is desolate. 18 O my God, incline your ear and hear. Open your eyes and see our desolations, and the city that is called by your name. For we do not present our pleas before you because of our righteousness, but because of your great mercy. 19 O Lord, hear; O Lord, forgive. O Lord, pay attention and act. Delay not, for your own sake, O my God, because your city and your people are called by your name.” (Daniel 9:15-19, ESV)
